Canadian Writers' Summit
Harbourfront Centre, Toronto
Panel - Achieving Your Creative Dream: The Shadow Side. I'm excited to be organizing and participating in a panel on a topic I've been mulling over for a couple of years now. With Sarah Henstra as moderator, Carrie Snyder, Suzanne Alyssa Andrew, Maria Meindl and I will be talking about what happens when you finally succeed at a creative goal, and instead of the elation and accomplishment you anticipated, you find yourself blindsided by a darker response. We'll open up about the depression, anxiety, fear, and loss that have accompanied our successes, and discuss how to integrate and transcend these shadow sides of creative accomplishment. [Blogger and writer Melanie Martilla wrote up her detailed notes here.]
